In late September it put 20 more Caribbean sailings on sale through early 2029. Its French arm took the Ambassador name and reported a 92% occupancy rate. And this week, storms forced one of its ships to rework a northern lights cruise in Norway.\n\nHere is what changed, and what it means for cruisers.\n\n## 20 More Caribbean Sailings, Through March 2029\n\nOn Sept. 29, Ambassador opened two more winter Caribbean seasons aboard Renaissance, its 1,100-guest ship, [Travel Weekly UK reported](https://travelweekly.co.uk/news/ambassador-puts-two-winter-caribbean-fly-cruises-on-sale). Each winter has 10 sailings: eight 14-night fly-cruises from Bridgetown, Barbados, plus two repositioning voyages between London Tilbury and Barbados.\n\nAccording to [Cruise Industry News](https://cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/2026/09/ambassador-launches-2027-28-2028-29-fly-cruise-winter-programs/), the 2027-28 season runs from Nov. 10, 2027, to April 8, 2028. It opens with an 18-night crossing from Tilbury that calls at St. Kitts, Dominica, St. Lucia, Martinique and Curacao. The 2028-29 season starts Oct. 29, 2028, with a 21-night crossing via Vigo, Spain, and La Palma in the Canary Islands. The final voyage leaves Bridgetown on March 11, 2029, and reaches Tilbury on March 28.\n\nThe packages use dedicated Virgin Atlantic charter flights from London Heathrow and Manchester to Barbados. Fares include transfers and luggage handling. Lead-in \"Season Saver\" fares start at £1,999 per person for the first winter and £2,099 for the second, based on two sharing an inside cabin, [TTG reported](https://www.ttgmedia.com/cruise/ambassador-cruise-line-locks-caribbean-fly-cruise-capacity-through-winter-2029). Islands on the schedule include Antigua, Aruba, Bonaire, Grenada, Guadeloupe and Tortola, according to [Ambassador's Caribbean page](https://www.ambassadorcruiseline.com/destinations/caribbean-cruises/).\n\nTTG said the extension follows the success of Ambassador's first Caribbean program, which began last October.\n\n## The French Arm Becomes Ambassador Croisières\n\nAmbassador merged with France's Compagnie Française de Croisières (CFC) in January 2025. On Sept. 17, CFC officially changed its name to Ambassador Croisières, [Seatrade Cruise News reported](https://www.seatrade-cruise.com/ports-destinations/ambassador-targets-92-occupancy-with-french-only-cruises). Renaissance now carries an \"A\" for Ambassador on its funnel.\n\nPresident Mayelisse Pierrot-Guibourt told Seatrade that the French brand reached a 92% occupancy rate this season and that 2027 bookings are further along than they were a year ago. \"This change of names doesn't alter our commitment to France,\" she said.\n\nThe French product keeps its French-language ship life and departures from Marseille and Dunkirk. Seatrade said the line sees growth in Belgium, about six miles from Dunkirk, and in Quebec. Cruise Industry News reported that the 2028 French program adds Egypt for the first time.\n\n## Storms Reroute Ambition in Norway\n\nThe freshest news is less welcome. Ambition, a 1,200-guest ship, left Bristol on Oct. 16 on a 17-night \"Land of Northern Lights\" cruise. Ambassador said in a Facebook post, [as reported by Cruise Hive](https://www.cruisehive.com/storms-austen-and-boelo-force-ambassador-ship-to-swap-five-norway-ports/221648), that Storms Austen and Boelo were forecast to bring winds of up to 70 knots and swells of up to 7 meters.\n\n\"Continuing with the original itinerary in these conditions would put our guests, our crew and the ship at risk,\" the line said.\n\nAfter calling at Alta on Oct. 23, Ambition swapped its remaining northern ports for Andalsnes, Molde, Alesund, Bergen and Stavanger, further south. That lowers the odds of seeing the aurora. According to Cruise Hive, Ambition's next Land of Northern Lights departure is March 8, 2027.\n\n## Ambassador by the Numbers\n\nAccording to Cruise Frog's [Ambassador Cruise Line page](https://cruisesfrog.com/cruise-lines/ambassador-cruise-line), the line was founded in 2021 by Christian Verhounig, and its main shareholder is London investment firm Njord Partners. The fleet:\n\n* **[Ambience](https://cruisesfrog.com/ships/ambience):** built in 1991, about 70,285 gross tons, about 1,400 guests.\n* **[Ambition](https://cruisesfrog.com/ships/ambition):** built in 1999, about 48,123 gross tons, about 1,200 guests.\n* **[Renaissance](https://cruisesfrog.com/ships/renaissance):** built in 1993, about 55,575 gross tons, about 1,100 guests.\n* **[Ambella](https://cruisesfrog.com/ships/ambella):** the former Oceania Sirena, due in May 2028 for a new German-language brand.\n\n## What It Means for Cruisers\n\nFor UK travelers, Ambassador is doubling down on two things: cruises that start close to home and a packaged Caribbean winter. Booking two seasons ahead locks in lead-in fares, but check flight and cabin details on each sailing.\n\nWeather is a real factor on late-season Norway trips. If the northern lights are the point of your trip, know that itineraries can change.\n\nFor more, read [5 things Ambassador does well, and 1 it doesn't](https://cruisesfrog.com/news/ambassador-cruise-line-five-things-well-one-drawback), [why solo cruisers like Ambassador](https://cruisesfrog.com/news/solo-cruising-ambassador-cruise-line) and [how Ambassador is expanding into Germany](https://cruisesfrog.com/news/ambassador-cruise-line-ambella-german-expansion).","textStyle":"body","layout":"text"}]}
