Virgin Voyages has another reason to celebrate its place in the cruise market. The U.S. edition of Condé Nast Traveler's 2026 Readers' Choice results ranks the company first in the large-ship category, with a score of 91.

That category covers vessels carrying 2,500 to 3,999 passengers. It is a specific readers' award, and an encouraging one for an adults-only brand built around doing a cruise differently.

Recognition with a clear identity behind it

In its October 6 response, Virgin says this is its third U.S. win at the top of the category. The company also highlights separate 2026 recognition for Brilliant Lady on Condé Nast Traveler's Hot List and Valiant Lady on its Gold List.

Those distinctions offer several starting points for a traveler curious about the fleet. The line-level readers' result recognizes the brand, while the individual ship mentions provide a reason to examine what is aboard a particular vessel.

For accuracy, this story refers to the U.S. results. The U.K. edition's separate 2026 list places Virgin fourth among large ships. The two editions should not be treated as one identical ranking.

The appeal is more tangible than a trophy

Virgin's published inclusions cover dining at its eateries, Wi-Fi, group fitness classes, entertainment and essential drinks such as water, soda and drip coffee. Those inclusions give travelers something practical to compare when looking beyond the headline fare.

For a couple who enjoy making dinner part of the evening, the ability to explore different restaurants can be more meaningful than another attraction on the top deck. For friends with different routines, an included workout or a relaxed coffee can help each person shape their own morning.

That is our assessment of the proposition, rather than a claim that the survey measured each of those benefits individually. An award tells us how respondents rated the line; it does not explain every person's reasons.

A useful introduction for first-time cruisers

The positive lesson for someone who has never cruised is that there are different ways to spend a holiday at sea. Start with the sort of trip you already enjoy on land.

If your ideal break includes a good dinner, an evening performance and time to relax with other adults, Virgin is worth investigating. Look at the actual restaurant choices and daily rhythm rather than deciding from a category label alone.

Our Virgin Voyages guide introduces the fleet and the travelers it is designed to serve. Read the individual ship profile as well, because the vessel and route together shape the holiday.

Turn recognition into a considered shortlist

Use the award as an invitation to explore, then make the booking decision around a real sailing. Compare cabin layout, embarkation port, time ashore and the total cost of your chosen fare.

That approach lets the good news remain useful. Virgin's latest U.S. readers' win is a strong endorsement from that survey's participants, and its recognizable onboard style gives interested travelers a clear set of features to investigate for themselves.
