What to expect

Spanish fortresses on the headland, a National Historic Site.

Distance from port
Not assessed
Cost
Low
USD 10 per adult, valid for both forts for 24 hours; children aged 15 and under enter free. Cashless payment. Transport is extra.
Tourist-trap risk
Low
Editorial assessment: original historic fortifications with a published NPS ticket covering both sites, rather than a shopping-led excursion.
Physical effort
Moderate
Editorial assessment: uneven historic surfaces and steep ramps or stairs increase effort, especially when visiting both forts. A visit restricted to the main accessible areas is easier.
Accessibility
Partly accessible
San Cristóbal has an elevator to the main plaza and accessible restrooms. El Morro has an accessible approach and main plaza, but lower levels are inaccessible and upper access uses steep ramps. Confirm operational access before arrival; the NPS access page is dated 2017.

Distance is approximate and measured from the cruise port, not the airport. Cost and tourist-trap risk are editorial assessments. Accessibility depends on the route, transport and facilities described in the notes. Not assessed means details have not yet been verified.
