About Costa Smeralda

Costa Smeralda is a Costa Cruises cruise ship of the Excellence class, in service since 2019. She measures 185,010 gross tons and carries 5,224 guests with a crew of 1,646. She sails Mediterranean, Canary Islands itineraries. We rate her 3.3 out of 5.

Costa Smeralda is an Excellence-class ship of 185,010 tons, built by Meyer Turku and delivered in December 2019 as Costa's first ship that runs on liquefied natural gas, a year after AIDA's AIDAnova. It carries about 5,200 guests at double occupancy and was the line's largest ship until its sister Costa Toscana arrived. Highlights include the Volare skywalk at the top of the ship, about 65 meters above the sea, a water park with three slides, four pools and a Solemio spa with a salt and snow room. It spends most of the year on Western Mediterranean loops calling at Civitavecchia, Genoa, Marseille and Barcelona, and winters on week-long Canary Islands cruises from Tenerife and Las Palmas.
