About Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth is a Cunard cruise ship of the Vista class, in service since 2010. She measures 90,901 gross tons and carries 2,092 guests. She sails Alaska, Asia, Australia and New Zealand itineraries. We rate her 3.7 out of 5.

Queen Elizabeth is a modified Vista-class ship built by Fincantieri at Monfalcone and in service since October 2010. Her layout is close to Queen Victoria's, but her decor pays tribute to the earlier Queen Elizabeth and Queen Elizabeth 2, with many Art Deco touches recalling the 1930s. She measures about 90,900 gross tons and carries 2,092 guests in lower berths. A two-week refit at Damen Shiprepair Brest in January 2019 updated cabins, corridors, the spa and shops. Since 2019 she has spent summers in Alaska sailing from Vancouver, with spring seasons in Japan and southern-summer seasons in Australia.

Cabins to avoid & quieter candidates

  • Decks 5–7, away from lifts and service doors

    Shortlist the middle accommodation decks

Choose a room with cabins directly above and below. These middle accommodation decks offer a useful starting point for light sleepers; check connecting doors, laundrettes and the precise corridor position.

    Why we flag this

Cunard’s plans show the main accommodation stack on Decks 4–8. Quieter is a location-based candidate, not a tested sound rating. Check the source plan.

  • Deck 8, below Deck 9 public spaces

Check the pool and buffet footprint overhead

Pavilion Pool, the Garden Lounge, the Lido buffet and the aft Lido Pool Club are on Deck 9. Check whether your cabin sits below loungers, seating, a food-service area or gym equipment; those locations can bring footsteps and setup noise.

    Why we flag this

Cunard’s outdoor-spaces and buffet guides place the pools and Lido on Deck 9. Compare the exact footprint rather than rejecting every Deck 8 cabin. Check the source plan.

  • Deck 1, below Deck 2 entertainment

Look above lower-deck cabins before booking

Compare a Deck 1 cabin with the Queens Room, casino, Golden Lion and restaurant above. A light sleeper should investigate any overlap with music, dancing or food-service areas.

    Why we flag this

The Deck 2 diagram locates these venues. Their presence establishes an adjacency to investigate, not a confirmed noise complaint. Check the source plan.

  • Deck 2, cabins 2002–2018 shown beside the casino

Single cabins next to the casino need a closer look

These single cabins share the entertainment deck near the casino and the route to the Royal Court Theatre. Check corridor traffic and sound separation if you turn in early.

    2002 · 2004 · 2006 · 2008 · 2010 · 2012 · 2014 · 2016 · 2018

    Why we flag this

The official Deck 2 artwork shows these exact even-numbered cabins beside the casino; Golden Lion is across the public area. Check the source plan.

Location-based guidance, not measured noise or a guarantee of quiet. Flags identify areas to investigate, not every cabin on a deck. Check the exact room, connecting doors, accessibility and the plan for your sailing date. Cunard interactive deck artwork, checked October 2026. Reviewed 2026-10-20.

Which cabins are good choices on Queen Elizabeth?

For the “Current published plan” plan, start with these quieter-location candidates: Decks 5–7, away from lifts and service doors: Choose a room with cabins directly above and below. These middle accommodation decks offer a useful starting point for light sleepers; check connecting doors, laundrettes and the precise corridor position. Compare the exact cabin with the decks above and below, nearby lifts and connecting doors. These are layout-based suggestions, not a guarantee of quiet.

Which cabins should I avoid or check carefully on Queen Elizabeth?

For the “Current published plan” plan, review these flagged locations before booking: Deck 8, below Deck 9 public spaces: Pavilion Pool, the Garden Lounge, the Lido buffet and the aft Lido Pool Club are on Deck 9. Check whether your cabin sits below loungers, seating, a food-service area or gym equipment; those locations can bring footsteps and setup noise. Deck 1, below Deck 2 entertainment: Compare a Deck 1 cabin with the Queens Room, casino, Golden Lion and restaurant above. A light sleeper should investigate any overlap with music, dancing or food-service areas. Deck 2, cabins 2002–2018 shown beside the casino (cabins 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018): These single cabins share the entertainment deck near the casino and the route to the Royal Court Theatre. Check corridor traffic and sound separation if you turn in early. These flags are not measured noise reports or a warning about every room on a deck. Read the sourced cabin advice for the evidence and any explicit operator warnings.

How can I check whether a cabin is under a pool, nightclub or theatre?

Find the cabin on the selected plan, then compare the same fore-and-aft position on the deck above and below. Check the full venue footprint, including outdoor seating, stages, service areas and entrances. Nearby activity can be a reason to investigate, but does not by itself prove a cabin is noisy. Use the cabin advice and its sources to distinguish layout cautions from operator warnings.

Where can I find Queen Elizabeth deck plans?

Which deck-plan edition applies to my sailing?

Select your sailing date before comparing cabin locations. Editions can change after a refit. These answers use “Current published plan”, reviewed 2026-10-20. Confirm the exact layout with the cruise line.
