About Star Flyer

Star Flyer is a Star Clippers cruise ship, in service since 1991. She measures 2,298 gross tons and carries 166 guests with a crew of 74. She sails Mediterranean, Caribbean, Transatlantic, Canary Islands itineraries. We rate her 3.0 out of 5.

A four-masted barquentine designed from the start as a cruise ship, Star Flyer was the first vessel of Star Clippers. The Scheepswerven van Langerbrugge yard in Belgium launched her in January 1991 and completed her that May; she and her sister Star Clipper were registered in Luxembourg until 2010 and have flown Malta's flag since. About 112 metres long and 2,298 gross tons, she carries about 166 passengers and 74 crew under 16 sails covering some 3,365 square metres, using her engine when the wind is light. On board are a piano bar, an open-air Tropical Bar and a library, and guests can borrow kayaks, snorkel gear and sailing dinghies. She spends winters on round trips from St. Maarten in the Leeward Islands and summers in Greece and Turkey from Athens and Istanbul, crossing the Atlantic between seasons.
