About Wind Star

Wind Star is a Windstar Cruises cruise ship of the Wind class, in service since 1986. She measures 5,307 gross tons and carries 148 guests with a crew of 101. She sails Mediterranean, South Pacific, Panama Canal, Caribbean, Transatlantic itineraries. We rate her 3.7 out of 5.

Wind Star is Windstar Cruises' original ship, a four-masted motor-sailing yacht for 148 guests whose six sails are set and trimmed by computer. Built at Le Havre and in service since 1986, she was the first of three sisters with Wind Song and Wind Spirit, and Windstar now groups her with Wind Spirit and Wind Surf as its Wind Class. She was the first of the three to complete the two-phase Setting Sails redesign, finished in spring 2026 with updated staterooms, a refreshed Amphora restaurant, lounges, pool deck and spa. Her schedule moves from the Mediterranean across the Atlantic to the Caribbean and Costa Rica, through the Panama Canal, and on to a 2027 season in Tahiti.

Cabins to avoid & quieter candidates

  • Midship Deck 1, away from stairs and marina access

Compare central Deck 1 cabins first

Look for a central cabin with Deck 2 accommodation overhead. A lower central position can be a useful starting point for motion sensitivity; confirm the exact cabin and connecting-door layout.

    Why we flag this

The shared plan places accommodation on Decks 1 and 2, with marina access aft on Deck 1. No measured noise guarantee is implied. Check the source plan.

  • Deck 2 below the Veranda / Candles, café, spa and lounge

Check Deck 2 beneath dining and lounge areas

Compare the cabin with the public-area footprint on Deck 3. Early dining setup, evening lounge activity and service access warrant a closer check.

    Why we flag this

Deck 3 contains Veranda / Candles, Yacht Club Café, World Spa and the lounge above portions of Deck 2 accommodation. Check the source plan.

  • Deck 2 cabins near reception, the fitness center and restaurant access

Check stairs and same-deck public transitions

Ask about passing traffic and nearby access doors before choosing a room beside the public-area transition. Check the deck plan’s vessel-specific adjoining-door notes too.

    Why we flag this

The shared plan identifies reception, the boutique, medical center, fitness center and Amphora Restaurant on Deck 2; it lists different adjoining-door pairs for Wind Spirit and Wind Star. Check the source plan.

Location-based guidance, not measured noise or a guarantee of quiet. Flags identify areas to investigate, not every cabin on a deck. Which cabins are good choices on Wind Star?

For the “Official published layout” plan, start with these quieter-location candidates: Midship Deck 1, away from stairs and marina access: Look for a central cabin with Deck 2 accommodation overhead. A lower central position can be a useful starting point for motion sensitivity; confirm the exact cabin and connecting-door layout. Compare the exact cabin with the decks above and below, nearby lifts and connecting doors. These are layout-based suggestions, not a guarantee of quiet.

Which cabins should I avoid or check carefully on Wind Star?

For the “Official published layout” plan, review these flagged locations before booking: Deck 2 below the Veranda / Candles, café, spa and lounge: Compare the cabin with the public-area footprint on Deck 3. Early dining setup, evening lounge activity and service access warrant a closer check. Deck 2 cabins near reception, the fitness center and restaurant access: Ask about passing traffic and nearby access doors before choosing a room beside the public-area transition. Check the deck plan’s vessel-specific adjoining-door notes too. These flags are not measured noise reports or a warning about every room on a deck. Read the sourced cabin advice for the evidence and any explicit operator warnings.

How can I check whether a cabin is under a pool, nightclub or theatre?

Find the cabin on the selected plan, then compare the same fore-and-aft position on the deck above and below. Check the full venue footprint, including outdoor seating, stages, service areas and entrances. Nearby activity can be a reason to investigate, but does not by itself prove a cabin is noisy. Use the cabin advice and its sources to distinguish layout cautions from operator warnings.
