Carnival Cruise Line has set the final voyages for two of its Australian ships. Carnival Adventure will end its time Down Under with a run to Japan and then across the Pacific to Seattle. Carnival Luminosa will head east to Los Angeles by way of Hawaii and French Polynesia. The line announced the sailings on October 27, 2026, and says they go on sale later this week.

These trips follow the news from earlier this month. On October 15, Carnival said both ships would leave Australia in March 2028. Now we know how they will go.

Carnival Adventure: Sydney to Tokyo, then on to Seattle

Carnival Adventure's farewell comes in three parts.

  • Sydney to Tokyo, 19 days, from March 20, 2028. The ship calls in Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong and Taipei. It then makes several stops in Japan before it reaches Tokyo.
  • Tokyo round trip, 8 days, from April 8, 2028. Carnival lists Busan in South Korea and Mount Fuji among the highlights.
  • Tokyo to Seattle, 15 days, from April 16, 2028. This is a crossing of the Pacific, ending in the Pacific Northwest.

The dates follow on from each other in Tokyo. On paper, a guest could sail all three back to back, about six weeks from Sydney Harbour to Seattle on one ship. Carnival's release does not say whether it will sell the legs as one combined booking, so ask when sales open.

Carnival Luminosa: Sydney to Los Angeles

Carnival Luminosa gets a single, long goodbye. It leaves Sydney on March 15, 2028, on a 23-day sailing to Los Angeles. The route takes in Hawaii and French Polynesia on the way.

For Australian fans, this is the last chance to sail on Luminosa before she leaves. For American cruisers, it is a South Pacific crossing that ends close to home.

What Carnival says

Anton Loeb is an assistant vice president at Carnival Cruise Line. He pointed out that the two ships are not leaving right away.

"With Carnival Adventure and Carnival Luminosa continuing to sail in Australia through to March 2028, guests and travel agents still have an extensive range of itineraries to choose from across our four ships over the next 17 months," Loeb said.

What stays in Australia

Carnival is not leaving the region. In its October 15 deployment update, the line said Carnival Splendor and Carnival Encounter will keep sailing from Sydney and Brisbane all year. That release also noted a Federal Government extension that runs to the end of 2028.

So from April 2028, Australian guests will have two Carnival ships to choose from instead of four. Until then, all four keep their current schedules.

How to book

Carnival says the farewell voyages open for sale later this week. The release does not list fares. Bookings will go through carnival.com.au, travel agents, or Carnival's Australian phone line on 13 31 94. If you want one of these sailings, keep these points in mind:

  • Check your visas. The Adventure trip to Tokyo calls in several countries. The Seattle leg ends in the United States, and Luminosa ends in Los Angeles. Make sure your papers cover every stop.
  • Plan your flights home. These are one-way voyages. You will need a flight back from Tokyo, Seattle or Los Angeles.
  • Think about the sea days. Pacific crossings have long stretches at sea. That suits some cruisers well and bores others.

You can follow both ships on our Carnival Adventure and Carnival Luminosa pages, and see more on the Carnival Cruise Line page.
