About Black Watch

Black Watch is a former Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines cruise ship of the Royal Viking Star class, which sailed 1996 to 2020. She measured 28,613 gross tons.

Black Watch was built by Wärtsilä in Helsinki as Royal Viking Star, the first ship of Royal Viking Line, and entered service in 1972; she was lengthened in 1981. After spells with Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Cruise Line, Fred. Olsen bought her in 1996 and she began sailing as Black Watch in November that year, a traditional name in the Olsen fleet. Her engines were upgraded and her interiors refurbished in 2005. On 21 August 2020 Fred. Olsen announced her sale, with sister Boudicca, as an accommodation ship after buying two larger ships from Holland America Line. Renamed Odin, she was beached for scrapping at Alang, India, in June 2022.
