About Lofoten
Lofoten is a former Hurtigruten cruise ship, which sailed 1964 to 2020. She measured 2,621 gross tons and carried 149 guests. She sailed Norwegian Fjords itineraries.
Lofoten was a 2,621-ton passenger and cargo ship built in Oslo that joined the Bergen–Kirkenes route in 1964 and became the oldest ship in the fleet after Nordstjernen retired in 2012. Declared worthy of preservation in 2001, she kept her period character, loading cargo through a deck hatch with her own crane, and carried up to 400 passengers with 149 berths. Hurtigruten laid her up in March 2020 during the pandemic and retired her from scheduled service at the end of that year, as she no longer met the state's accessibility requirements for the route. She was then sold to Maritim videregående skole Sørlandet, a maritime school in Kristiansand that uses her as a training ship.
