About ms Esprit

ms Esprit is a Tauck cruise ship of the Jewel class, in service since 2010. She carries 98 guests with a crew of 45. She sails Danube, Rhine itineraries. We rate her 3.7 out of 5.

ms Esprit is a 110-meter riverboat built at the Vahali yards in Serbia and the Netherlands, which entered service in May 2010 as Vista Prima for the Cologne tour operator 1AVista Reisen. When that four-year charter ended, her operator Scylla chartered her to Tauck from 2015, and she was renamed Esprit and repainted in Tauck green. A later Tauck redesign, listed as completed in 2018, limits her to 98 guests, with 14 Tauck Suites of 300 square feet and seven in ten cabins at 225 square feet or more. Tauck groups her with its Jewel class boats, and her elevator serves only the two upper cabin decks. She sails Tauck's eastern routes: Budapest to the Black Sea, the 25-day Grand European Cruise from Amsterdam to Bucharest, and Danube trips that end in Budapest.

What’s above your ceiling matters as much as the view. Compare the decks around your cabin, then use the location notes to build your shortlist.

Cabins to avoid & quieter candidates

  • Ruby Deck, display level 2, only where Emerald and Diamond cabins overlap

    Compare Ruby cabins between accommodation

Shortlist a room with accommodation immediately above and below. Emerald Deck has a much shorter cabin block than Ruby and Diamond, so confirm exact alignment rather than assuming the whole Ruby Deck is buffered. Keep clear of lifts, stairs, service and restaurant access.

    Why we flag this

The ship-specific official maps show accommodation on Emerald, Ruby and Diamond Decks, with different block lengths and public-space exceptions. This is a conditional layout preference, not measured noise or a guarantee. Check the source plan.

  • Diamond Deck, display level 3, beneath the public Sun Deck

Check Diamond below Sun Deck activity

Match the exact cabin with outdoor chairs, seating, games and any water facility actually shown on this ship’s Sun Deck. Ask about early setup, cleaning and opening hours where footprints overlap.

    Why we flag this

The operator places a public Sun Deck above Diamond accommodation. Facilities and positions vary by ship; this does not mean every room lies under a pool or has a verified noise problem. Check the source plan.

  • Diamond accommodation near Panorama Lounge/bar and Ruby accommodation near Compass Rose

Check public-room boundaries before choosing a cabin

Compare the exact cabin with Panorama Lounge, bar, dining-room and circulation doors. Check Arthur’s and any wellness/fitness facilities where the selected ship’s diagram places them nearby, and ask about operating and service hours.

    Why we flag this

The selected ship’s deck artwork labels the lounge/bar and Compass Rose, with other public facilities varying by vessel. The note describes a proximity tradeoff, not a passenger complaint. Check the source plan.

  • Emerald Deck accommodation relative to labeled crew, engines and service spaces

Check lower-deck crew and machinery boundaries

Compare the cabin with the crew and engine areas expressly labeled on this ship’s diagram, as well as stairs, fitness/massage spaces where shown. Ask Tauck about insulation and service routes for the exact room.

    Why we flag this

The official plan identifies crew/engine zones at the ends of the lower level. Their presence supports a location check, not a claim that all lower-deck cabins are noisy. Check the source plan.

Location-based guidance, not measured noise or a guarantee of quiet. Flags identify areas to investigate, not every cabin on a deck. Check the exact room, connecting doors, accessibility and the plan for your sailing date. Ship-specific deck images published on this ship’s official Tauck page. Display levels 1–4 represent Emerald, Ruby, Diamond and Sun Decks from bottom to top; these are display positions, not claimed operator deck numbers. Native artwork retained with blank outer margins trimmed. PDF is a Cruises Frog compilation.. Reviewed 2026-10-22.

Which cabins are good choices on ms Esprit?

For the “Official deck plans — reviewed October 2026” plan, start with these quieter-location candidates: Ruby Deck, display level 2, only where Emerald and Diamond cabins overlap: Shortlist a room with accommodation immediately above and below. Emerald Deck has a much shorter cabin block than Ruby and Diamond, so confirm exact alignment rather than assuming the whole Ruby Deck is buffered. Keep clear of lifts, stairs, service and restaurant access. Compare the exact cabin with the decks above and below, nearby lifts and connecting doors. These are layout-based suggestions, not a guarantee of quiet.

Which cabins should I avoid or check carefully on ms Esprit?

For the “Official deck plans — reviewed October 2026” plan, review these flagged locations before booking: Diamond Deck, display level 3, beneath the public Sun Deck: Match the exact cabin with outdoor chairs, seating, games and any water facility actually shown on this ship’s Sun Deck. Ask about early setup, cleaning and opening hours where footprints overlap. Diamond accommodation near Panorama Lounge/bar and Ruby accommodation near Compass Rose: Compare the exact cabin with Panorama Lounge, bar, dining-room and circulation doors. Emerald Deck accommodation relative to labeled crew, engines and service spaces: Compare the cabin with the crew and engine areas expressly labeled on this ship’s diagram, as well as stairs, fitness/massage spaces where shown. Ask Tauck about insulation and service routes for the exact room. These flags are not measured noise reports or a warning about every room on a deck. Read the sourced cabin advice for the evidence and any explicit operator warnings.

How can I check whether a cabin is under a pool, nightclub or theatre?

Find the cabin on the selected plan, then compare the same fore-and-aft position on the deck above and below. Check the full venue footprint, including outdoor seating, stages, service areas and entrances. Nearby activity can be a reason to investigate, but does not by itself prove a cabin is noisy. Use the cabin advice and its sources to distinguish layout cautions from operator warnings.
