National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions has finished filling in its 2028-29 season. On Oct. 29, the expedition line released the last group of voyages for that year. The new set adds trips in the Galápagos, Costa Rica and Panama, the Amazon, Baja California, Egypt and Peru.
The first group of 2028-29 voyages came out in August. This second release rounds out the calendar with new routes, longer trips and a few new ways to combine places in one journey.
Eight ways to see the Galápagos
The Galápagos gets the most attention. Lindblad now has eight itineraries there, running from seven to 17 days. They sail on four ships: National Geographic Endeavour II, National Geographic Islander II, National Geographic Gemini and National Geographic Delfina.
The longer options come from back-to-back sailings sold as one package. That gives you more time across the islands, which differ a lot from one to the next.
Peru and the Galápagos in one trip
In 2029, Lindblad will sell a Peru and Galápagos Escape. It is one continuous land-and-sea journey. You start in Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu with historians and local guides. Then you fly on to the Galápagos for wildlife, hikes and snorkeling with the line's naturalists.
A new 15-day Costa Rica and Panama trip
The new 15-day itinerary links Costa Rica's Pacific coast and the Guanacaste highlands with Panama's rainforests, the Pearl Islands and the Panama Canal. Lindblad has also stretched its Guanacaste trip to eight days.
These trips sail on National Geographic Venture. Guests explore by Zodiac, kayak and paddleboard, and also snorkel and hike. The line says there will be more time on Gatún Lake and a visit to Barro Colorado Island.
The Upper Amazon by skiff
From November 2028 through October 2029, Upper Amazon: A River Expedition explores Peru's Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve. It sails on the chartered Delfin II and Delfin III. Guests go out by skiff, kayak and on foot, looking for pink river dolphins, monkeys, macaws, sloths and caimans. Visits with Ribereño river communities are part of the trip, tied to local projects backed by the group Minga Peru.
Whales and desert islands in Baja
Baja California has three options on National Geographic Quest. Baja California Discovery explores the Gulf of California, where desert meets sea. Among the Great Whales focuses on gray whales in the lagoons during their season. A holiday departure, A Living Sea and Desert Isles, is aimed at people who want to travel over the festive season.
Egypt on a 44-guest boat
The Egypt trip, Passage Through Egypt Aboard Oberoi Philae, runs from Cairo to Abu Simbel. It uses the 44-guest Oberoi Philae. Egyptologists and photo instructors lead the way, from the Pyramids and Sphinx to quieter sites like Saqqara, Dendera and Kom Ombo.
"Every destination has its own rhythm, and our job is to design the voyage in concert with it," said Trey Byus, Lindblad's chief expedition officer. He said the season offers "new combinations, extended itineraries and intimate vessels" that larger ships cannot match.
What this means for planners
Expedition trips on small ships sell out early, because each departure has few cabins. If a 2028 or 2029 Galápagos or Amazon trip is on your list, it is worth looking now. The combined Peru and Galápagos trip is a good fit if you want both places without planning two separate vacations.
Keep in mind that some of these trips, like the Amazon and Egypt voyages, use chartered vessels rather than Lindblad's own ships. Ask about cabin layouts and group size before you choose.
